Centenary Launch

Our District organised its own launch party to get the celebrations started. We made our own 'sparkle' picture and S'mores were a big hit.

No party is complete without the cake.

Brownies Take Over the Plaza

In April we joined with County to Take over the Plaza theatre for the day. There was more singing and dancing, film and cartoons, bingo, flashing pom-poms  and the chance to take to the stage.

BLAST Party Day

In August we joined County again for the Party day at the County Centenary Camp. We travelled by minibus up to the site, and as we walked across the fields we could hear the music getting louder  and louder!

As soon as we arrived it started to rain!

In a fun packed day we went to an alternative circus, looked how they camped 100 years ago, tried some different crafts, learnt some circus skills and watched a bird of prey display! They said owls are birds of very little brain - can this be true?
We ate lunch with the Guides at their sub-camp and had more cake. It was Brown Owls birthday so she blew the candles out. We had ice-cream, sang, bought souvenirs, watched a rocket launch into the next centenary and walked back to the bus all in our rain coats . It was a Blast.

Vision 20:10 20/10 2010

In October we met up as a County for the Centenary Finale. Not before we had spent weeks making our special lanterns for the night.

In Stockport we had a lantern parade. We met as a district at the hut piled onto 2 coaches with our lanterns and brand new special promise badges ready to renew our promise with the rest of the world at ten past eight on the 20th October 2010. 2010 .2010 .

Special glow in the dark 'ears' were put on, we lit our lanterns and the lights were turned out. What a sight nearly 2000 lanterns shining in the dark.

We walked round the stadium then joined to renew the promise.

Then headed for home.

In Between time back at the hut......
